Step one: the free 10 target review
You send us your website and one or two sentences about the customers you want more of. Within a few days you get back a short document with 10 companies. For each one we show the trigger we found, why that trigger maps to what you sell, the person we would write to, and the opening line of the angle.
The review is free and there is no pitch attached to it. It exists so you can see how we think before you decide whether to let us run the workflow. If the list makes you say "yes, those are exactly the companies I want to be talking to," we keep going. If it does not, you have a useful document and we part on good terms.
What is in the review
- 10 accounts that match your practice, chosen by trigger and fit rather than industry code
- The dated event at each account that makes now the time
- One sentence on why that event connects to what you sell
- The named decision maker we would contact
- The first line of the outreach angle, so you can judge the voice
Step two: mapping your company and your buyer
If you go ahead, the first week is spent getting the map right. We read everything you have published and everything a prospect would find about you. We write down what you sell, who it is for, what problem it solves, what proof exists and what a bullseye account looks like from the outside. You review that document and correct it. It becomes the standard every account is measured against.
This is also where we agree the shape of the outreach: who it comes from, what it sounds like, how many touches, what we will never say. You approve that once. After that we work inside it.
Step three: the weekly loop
Every week, the same five things happen.
- Fresh account research: we find new companies that hit your triggers this week and drop the ones that no longer qualify
- Angle development: each new account gets a reason for contact written from its own situation, not a template with the company name swapped in
- Sequence execution: the outreach runs from your name, on a warmed sending domain, at a volume your calendar can absorb
- Reply monitoring: every response is read, classified and either handed to you with context, scheduled for follow up, or closed
- A plain summary: what went out, who replied, what they said, which conversations are worth your time this week
Your job in that loop is to read the summary and take the conversations. Everything else is ours.
Who does what
Three parties are involved and the division is not subtle.
- AI does the repeatable work: scanning for triggers, reading company pages, drafting first versions, classifying replies, keeping the records straight. This is the part that used to need a team of researchers and is now the cheapest part of outbound.
- The operator decides. Which accounts make the cut, whether an angle is credible, when a reply needs a human, when the target map needs to change. ExpertLayer is run by a sales operator who has built inside sales teams from a handful of reps to more than fifty and taken the outbound motion from zero to real revenue more than once. That judgment is what you are paying for.
- You take the conversations and tell us when we are wrong. Your corrections are the most valuable input in the system, and they compound: every account you reject teaches the map something.
What you see
You do not get a dashboard. You get a weekly summary written for someone who has ten minutes: accounts added, accounts dropped and why, messages sent, replies by type, conversations open, conversations you should take this week. Behind it sits the full target map and reply history, which you can ask for at any time and which is yours to keep.
Reporting is deliberately in words rather than charts. A reply from a prospect is a sentence someone wrote, and the decision about what to do with it is easier to make when you can read it.
What we will not do
- We will not send volume for its own sake. If the trigger research only finds fifteen qualified accounts this week, fifteen go out.
- We will not fake personalization. No lines about your recent post, your alma mater or the weather in your city. Every message carries a business reason or it does not go.
- We will not sell the same account map to two competing clients. If you and another firm serve the same niche, one of you is a client and the other is not.
- We will not lock your data in a tool. The map, the angles and the history are documents, delivered as we go.
- We will not promise meetings. We promise relevant conversations with companies that have the problem now. What you do with them is the part only you can do.
Pricing
The 10 target review is free. The managed engagement is priced monthly and includes the research, the angles, the sending infrastructure, the monitoring and the weekly summary. Current pricing is on the home page. If you are weighing this against hiring, an agency or a tool, the comparison guide lays the options side by side.
Questions about the engagement
Is ExpertLayer software or a service?+
A service. There is no login, no dashboard to learn and no seat license. You send us your website and a sentence about the customers you want, we do the work, and you get targets, sequences and summaries back as documents you can read in five minutes. AI does the repeatable research and drafting. An operator with two decades of building outbound teams decides what goes out.
Who actually writes the emails?+
We draft them, account by account, from the trigger we found. You approve the shape of the sequence once at the start. After that we write inside that shape and you see everything in the weekly summary. Nothing goes out in a voice you have not signed off on.
Whose name and domain does the outreach use?+
Yours. Prospects reply to the person who could do the work, so outreach goes from the founder or partner who would run the engagement. We set up and warm a sending domain alongside your main one so deliverability problems never touch your primary mail.
How many emails go out?+
Fewer than you expect. A boutique practice typically runs 30 to 60 new accounts a week, each with a three or four touch sequence. That is deliberate. The reply rate on a trigger based note is many times the rate on a volume blast, and your capacity to take conversations is the real limit.
What do I have to do each week?+
Read a short summary and reply to the conversations we flag. That is it. If a prospect replies with a real question, we hand it to you with the context. If they say not now, we schedule the follow up. If they say never, they come off the list.
What happens to the research when we stop?+
It is yours. The target map, the trigger notes, the angles and the reply history are delivered as documents throughout, not locked in a tool. If you pause the engagement, you keep everything we built.
